Located in Burbank CA, the Inclusion Films Workshop is a two-phase practical program. Our goal is to provide developmentally disabled adults with an entry-level working knowledge of film production. Our curriculum moves beyond classroom instruction and offers students real-world experience. At the conclusion of each semester, students will work as a team to create and produce a short thesis film. After completing the program, the most qualified and successful students may be invited to work join our micro-enterprise, Team Diversity Media. Together we will work on production projects for clients in the community.
The Inclusion Films workshop seeks to display, encourage, and promote the creative skills and strong work ethic of talented developmentally disabled film makers, ultimately allowing them to become more independent, self confident, and well-rounded individuals in today’s society.

Phase One:
All Phase One students will be instructed in every aspect of beginning film making including: working with actors, pre-production schedules and budgeting, camera work and lighting, and post-production. Phase One students will be particularly guided in the basic elements of visual story telling and script development. Each student will have the opportunity for hands-on training, as they will be responsible for writing and directing their own three minute short film. The students will also participate as a group in the making of the thesis film.

Phase Two:
Phase Two students will spend the majority of their time behind the camera, working with lighting, and in the editing room developing their individual skills. Each Phase Two student will be assigned to mentor a Phase One student and will assist them in the making of their short film. Phase Two students will also act as crew in the production of the thesis film.
After completing the Inclusion Films program students should be well on their way to developing a working knowledge of all aspects of film production. (Skill and knowledge level will vary depending upon the individual.) The most qualified and outstanding students may be invited to work as writers, producers, and crew with Team Diversity Media. The T.D.M. team will work on community-based projects such as: advertisements for locally owned businesses, public service announcements, weddings, birthdays etc.
